The Opportunity

The Business Development Manager plays a critical role in driving revenue growth, market expansion, and product development across North America. Reporting to the Agri Products Manager, this role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, strengthening relationships with key partners, and developing strategies that maximize production capacity and profitability.


This is a highly strategic and relationship-driven role, ideal for an experienced ag professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys influencing both internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategy

  • Identify and lead new business opportunities across the North American crop protection market
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow revenue, market share, and customer base
  • Build strong networks within the agricultural industry to support long-term growth
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer needs to inform strategy

Sales & Financial Performance

  • Develop and achieve annual sales targets
  • Manage pricing strategies, margins, and product profitability
  • Collaborate with members and partners to develop forecasts, budgets, and growth plans
  • Monitor financial performance and adjust strategies to meet objectives

Relationship & Partner Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with member-owners, partners, and customers
  • Engage external partners and suppliers to support business growth and supply chain needs
  • Act as a key liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring alignment and communication
  • Provide market insights and recommendations to support customer success

Product Development & Market Intelligence

  • Identify product development opportunities and gaps in the market
  • Lead pricing, product launch planning, and lifecycle management
  • Collaborate with internal teams on product innovation and improvements
  • Monitor regulatory changes and industry developments impacting product offerings

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with production, logistics, and supply chain teams to align on demand and delivery
  • Support production planning through accurate forecasting and communication
  • Provide direction and guidance to internal team members supporting business development initiatives

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Agriculture, Business, or a related field
  • 8–10+ years of experience in sales, marketing, or business development
  • Strong experience within agriculture, crop protection distribution, or manufacturing
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and managing complex customer relationships
  • Strong financial acumen, including pricing, margins, and forecasting
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

Assets

  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation or eligibility
  • Membership (or eligibility) with the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists
